BA Digital Arts at Kingston College

what is it and why?

With its combination of art and design and the latest technology this degree provides an excellent education for anyone looking to develop a digital media career. You will receive training in the concepts and creative skills needed to work with digital media – for example 2D graphics, typography, interaction, animation, video and sound. and will leave equipped able to work across a wide range of career paths.

You will study at Kingston College for three years in brand new high specification computer labs, with access to fully equipped TV and photographic studios, 3d and print workshops, music and sound studios and the on site Penny School Gallery and be taught by skilled and experienced staff from a range of relevant educational and vocational backgrounds.

We offer an intense and supportive learning environment in which to continue your studies with structured lecture and workshop sessions and open access.

Through the first year of the course, you will be introduced to 2D and 3D animation and gain an understanding of how changes in technology impact on society. You will learn how to create, source, and modify digital images and apply these abilities within the context of design for the digital media.

In your second year you will investigate different approaches to interface design and develop your abilities in its production, building on your skills in 2D and 3D animation and developing your experience of all aspects of interactive game play design

During your third year, you will acquire a high level of competence in the design of media rich presentations, the use of special effects, the production of animated short films and undertake a Final Project to complete your Degree.
